Vacation: Much Needed Time Away with my Boys
Well, we're on Day 4 of our 10 Day Vacation, and I can only hope that time will pass much slower for the next 6 days. Why is it that fun days always seem to fly by much too quickly??? Ethan loves the beach, and he seems to find this trip as special as we do. I'm sure he can sense mine and Zach's moods of excitement and relaxation. And it is very obvious that he loves having his mommy and daddy with him all day, almost as much as we do. It is such a blessing from God to see the fresh excitement for new things on Ethan's face. I think that is some of the greatest joy of being a parent: watching your child learn/teaching your child something new. Ethan can only sit and stare at the big, blue vast ocean and exclaim, "Wow!" Watching him take in the majesticness of the ocean and the finite volume of the sands literally fills our hearts. Even though we know he will not remember these moments, Zach and I will hold them in our hearts forever. It is for these moments that I am most thankful on this trip.
I am also thankful for the spare moments of alone time with my husband. As parents of a 16 month old, it can be hard to have the time to truly enjoy each other. I know that one of my main goals for this trip is to really allow myself the time to appreciate and spoil my favorite person in the entire world. Why is it that we as people sometimes forget to show the person that we love the most that we love him/her the most?? This is one of my biggest daily struggles, and I hope that this time away allows me to truly show Zach just how amazing of a man he is to both myself and our son. It is great to be able to sit with him and talk about random things and enjoy our son together without the added stress of work and the rest of life. Obviously it is impossible to escape these things forever, but I think vacation time is definitely needed. And a true blessing.
So it is for these first moments with Ethan and for these silly, quiet, and intimate moments with Zach that I am so very blessed to have. And I praise my God that he has allowed me this time. I pray for many more of these amazing moments with my sweet boys :)
